Definitions of Instructional Design and Technology
Over the years the definition of instructional design and technology has changed for good reason. The technology today is so much more advanced and is changing by the day. Chapter one gave two latest definitions and were the AECT 2006 definition and the authors’ own definition.
AECT's new definition as of 2006 is a definition that can stand for many years the way it is written because it incorporates education as well as ethical practice of facilitating and is broad. The author's definition is somewhat wordy and more difficult to understand.
Educational technology is incorporating the Internet and other information technologies into the learning experience. The term changes with advancements that are made in technology. Learning and teaching options have dramatically changed with the addition and utilization of technology in the education experience.
Most often the lessons are at our school is based on C-Scope which are lessons that have been developed for schools statewide. My problem with this is the teacher become robots basically and we have little or no academic freedom. Also I am always have ongoing evaluations for the goals that I have set for my students. The model that is exhibit from Dick, Carey, and Carey follows the characteristics of instructional design by stating goals the first thing.
The education in the present and on into the future is something that I am not sure we can conceive. I think in the future schooling as we know it will not exist. Schools will not have buildings as we know it will be networks of computers where students will be using webcasting, blogging and wiki to develop their lessons.
Skype is a great tool to connect classrooms to other classrooms and the list of application goes on and on. In the near future Educational Technology will be even more advances than we can imagine.
I resently had the opportunity to see a presentation on the Smartpen and Livescribe for the classroom. Pleases check this out it would make teaching so much easier for teachers and learning easier for students. Teaching can be a little like a juggling act. Instructors are expected to present new information, facilitate discussion, monitor behavior and performance, and ultimately provide supportive and/or corrective feedback.

Wikibooks is a website I found that is an emerging technology that can be used in classrooms for several subject areas. Wikibooks is for textbooks, annotated texts, instructional guides, and manuals. http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Main_Page Technology is most effective in education when it is fully integrated into the curriculum. I found this website site that will take you to only the good information you are looking for on the topic of emerging technologies. UW-Superior Library/Technology students have compiled a list of resources about emerging technologies in education. Check this out it is great. http://www2.uwsuper.edu/media/advtech/

At our school we are blessed with technology and here are some pictures I would like to share.
